The initial plan for the MADAI project was to develop a new visualization tool using the Paraview libraries but stripped down to only include the features needed for their particular applications. This was based on experience with biologist end-users who prefer austere interfaces.
After showing the high-energy physicists and the weather team the initial visualizations within Paraview the scientists demanded that we leave all of the existing functionality in. Therefore, we’ve selected Paraview as the basic platform and are extending it using plug-ins to provide additional functionality needed for ensemble visualization.
